Swedish Therapeutic Massage

image of swedish massageUsing classic Swedish technique of long flowing strokes, the Swedish massage varies in pressure, from light to deep, to reduce stress, relieve muscle tension and promote an overall feeling of relaxation. Each session is customized for the client depending on their individual needs.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a traditional form of bodywork. Based on historical Japanese massage techniques and the ancient principals of yin and yang, gentle pressure is applied to specific areas of the body to improve the flow of energy (chi) and harmonize the functions of the internal organs. Regular Shiatsu treatment can improve the quality and balance of chi, allowing your body, mind and spirit to maintain a natural healthy state.

image of shiatsu massageUnlike most Western forms of bodywork, shiatsu is usually performed on a mat on the floor. No oils are used and the recipient remains clothed. Light to medium pressure is applied with the thumbs, fingers, and hands along channels or "meridians" that help to balance and free the flow of physical and mental energy. When appropriate, a shiatsu therapist can create deep pressure with elbows, knees, and feet. Shiatsu therapy also uses soft tissue manipulation and stretching.

Following much discussion between Maryknoll and ACCD, about the project and business of Just Massage, we have concluded that we cannot come to a common ground in terms of partnership. Therefore, Maryknoll will discontinue the partnership by the end of March 2008. From that time, Maryknoll will have no responsibility or obligations regarding the center or any of its activities.

We thank you in advance for your continued support and encouragement of the current therapists and students working at the center.
